Put Me In Coach

But have reverence for Christ in your hearts, and honor him as Lord. Be ready at all times to answer anyone who asks you to explain the hope you have in you,  - 1 Peter 3:15 GNT

Be ready! That is the job of back up quarterback in football. It is the job of the understudy in theatrical performance. To be prepared at all times. You never know when you are going to be called into service. You never know when the starting quarterback is going to get injured and you are going to need to lead the team to victory. You never know when the lead performer is going to get a stomach bug and you are going to be called upon to be star of the night. You must always be ready!

Peter is reminding us of the importance of being ready specifically to share our testimony. We are to be ready to share the Good News at all times. We never know when God is going to place us in a position of sharing what He has done in our lives. We never know when we will be called on to be the messenger of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We should have so much respect for what Jesus has done for us that our hearts pour out for Him. That means we are ready whenever called to share our testimony and His glory. We should think about what we want to say and prepare ourselves to say it. We should practice sharing our story of His glory in our lives.

I suggest you consider a few questions to prepare. 1. When did Jesus become real to you? 2. Why do you have hope? 3. Why do you deserve to go to heaven? What is your story of salvation?

Spend time with the Lord journaling the answers to these questions. Write your testimony out. Share it with your friends and family to practice. That way you will be ready at all times to explain the hope you have in Jesus.

Be blessed and be a blessing,
Matt
