Love To Do Good
Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good? - 1 Peter 3:13
The way this is written, I would have guessed Yoda had a hand in the sentence structure. When you dissect the sentence a bit, the message becomes clear. Peter is encouraging us to passionately do good. We should be enthusiastic to do the things that bring glory to God. He wants us to know that no one can harm us if we aim to do good. The good he speaks of us moral good. It is the idea of doing the right thing.
He goes on to say that even if we suffer for doing good now, we should still be filled with joy because of our right standing with God. There may be trouble on the Earth when we choose to do things to honor God. This trouble is temporary. It will pass. The love of Jesus is forever. It can stand any test. God will never leave us or forsake us. In this we can have joy.
So, do good for the Lord. Show love, when the world wants hate. Show unity when society aims to divide. Be zealous for what is good.
Be blessed and be a blessing,
Matt
