Our Story
In 1954, a small group of believers saw a need for an independent Christian Church in Bradenton, Florida. It would take just a couple of years and Westside Christian Church was be formed. The church was established to seek the lost and nurture the saved by sharing Jesus, building believers, and showing Christ's love. In a bold and unique move by the founders of Westside, they made the operations of the church and mission of sharing the gospel the most important directives. As a result , we hold strongly to these value as we lead people into a life-giving relationship with Jesus.
Through our seventy plus years of existence, Westside Christian Church has experienced numerous ministers and pastors, many serving for more than 10 years. The church has times of numerical growth and times of pruning. As community of believers the church continues to show a willingness to change to meet the needs of the people God has brought together.
We enjoy being a multigenerational church and love share our church with all who come to visit. We have an amazing kids and student (middle school & high school ministry), as well as numerous opportunities for adults to engage in fellowship, service, and christian education. Core Beliefs
We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God (Matthew 16:13-20)
We believe that man willfully sinned against God and is lost without Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12, Romans 3:23)
We believe that communion is central to the worship service and therefore take bread and juice each week to remember Jesus’ body and blood given for us (Acts 20:7)
We believe that salvation is the free gift of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and is found in his shed blood (Matthew 26:28)
We believe that baptism is practiced by immersion and every believer is commanded to be baptized. Christ provides an example in his own baptism that we are to follow. Baptism demonstrates the believer’s acceptance of Christ (Romans 6:3-5, Matthew 3:13-17, Matthew 28:18, Acts 8:12-13)
