Spoken Word - Good Friday/Easter

Apr 5, 2026    Ryan Stockton

Ryan Stockton wrote and performed spoken word to end our Good Friday service and then to launch our Easter service. This video combines the two. This powerful journey through Holy Week takes us from the triumphal entry to the empty tomb, revealing the ultimate story of sacrificial love and victorious resurrection. We witness Jesus entering Jerusalem with purpose, knowing the cross awaited him, yet never wavering from his mission. The narrative challenges us to examine our own spiritual fruit through the symbolism of the cursed fig tree - are we bearing genuine fruit, or merely appearing faithful on the surface? As we walk through the betrayal, denial, and crucifixion, we confront the uncomfortable truth that humanity's rejection of Jesus mirrors our own tendency to choose comfort over commitment. The turning point comes on that glorious Sunday morning when the tomb stands empty and the angels declare what changes everything: He is risen. This isn't just historical fact; it's the foundation of our new identity. Because Jesus conquered death, we no longer live under guilt and shame. We're not patched up or improved - we're made completely new. The resurrection power that raised Christ from the grave now lives within us through the Holy Spirit, equipping us to live victoriously and share this transformative message with others.
