Strength to Surrender
What does it actually look like to follow Jesus in the middle of everyday life, with all its frustrations, distractions, and competing desires? This message dives deep into two of the Beatitudes from Matthew 5 that challenge us to rethink some of our most basic assumptions. The first is meekness, a word our culture has almost entirely misunderstood. Far from meaning weakness or passivity, meekness is strength under control, the kind of surrendered power that allows God to direct our responses rather than our emotions or pride. The second is a hunger and thirst for righteousness, a vivid image of what it looks like when our deepest spiritual appetite is oriented toward God's goodness rather than the empty things the world offers. Together, these two qualities paint a picture of a life that is genuinely transformed by grace, not just adjusted around the edges. If we are honest with ourselves, we can see how much of our daily friction, our arguments, our frustrations, our spiritual emptiness, comes from living in the opposite posture. This is an invitation to consider what changes when we let God hold the reins.
